Another fairly common problem on the Volkswagen transporter T5 can be the vehicle going into what is commonly known as limp mode! this will be evident by reduced power and the fault light on the dash board illuminating! if after the faults have been read and turbo over boost faults recorded and all other relevant diagnostic work carried out may require the replacement of the turbo due to the variable vein system intermittently sticking! there are a few options with this job but the safest bet i would say is to use a fully re manufactured garrett exchange unit!
Timing belts are a serviceable item (60k or 4 years) and should be considered imperative in the up keep of your vehicle! failure of any of the timing belt, tensioner pulleys or water pump will in most cases lead to catastrophic engine damage, here at FC Autos we will replace your main timing belt, fuel pump timing belt, all associated Tensioners and rollers as well as the water pump using genuine Volkswagen parts and lastly re set the fuel timing back to manufacturers specification
The tell tale signs of your T5 may need a clutch and or flywheel can be the obviously starting to slip under hard acceleration, rattle or noise coming from the passenger side of the bonnet area or even a rough jerky engine whilst at idle!
Another common problem with the VW T4 can be worn or even completely missing gear selector bushes/balls. This may be evident by having excessive movement in the gear stick and difficulty in changing gear. This is a job that can be done in situ but can be tricky so we strip the linkage from the vehicle, clean and inspect then fit all new bushes.
