Another fairly common problem on the Volkswagen transporter T5 can be the vehicle going into what is commonly known as limp mode! this will be evident by reduced power and the fault light on the dash board illuminating!
VW T5 Drive shaft/stub axle
Another potential fault with the Volkswagen T5 can be the drive system! specifically the drive shafts, unlike conventional drive shafts which go inside the gearbox Volkswagen use a stub axle that does that and the drive shaft in turn is fitted to that via a splined connection! this connection is where the problem can occur with the splines wearing out which unfortunately ends up a break down situation and the vehicle requiring recovery This is a job where the price can vary dramatically due to the difference in how much a new shaft and stub can be purchased!
